Colon Hydrotherapy
A safe, gentle and effective way to cleanse and detoxify your body.
Health and Sickness Both Have Their Roots in the Colon
The colon, or large intestine, is an involuntary muscle that is approximately as long as a person is tall. Its main functions are to finish absorption of nutrients, eliminate waste, conserve water, fight infections and, with healthy intestinal flora, synthesize essential nutrients such as vitamin K and B12.
The colon can become dysfunctional or overwhelmed due to a poor diet, stress, food sensitivities, and/or the use of pharmaceuticals specifically antibiotics. As a result, impacted feces, dead cellular tissue, mucous, parasites, worms and toxic by-products can accumulate and compromise the health of the colon and the body.
This accumulated waste can remain in the colon for months and even years. The tale about swallowed gum staying in the stomach is not all together a myth as it is in the large intestine where it can sit for a long time and collect harmful substances. The average person carries between three to twenty pounds of fecal matter in their colon. This can produce a state of auto-intoxication that can lead to chronic disease.
Colon hydrotherapy is recognized as an important step in regaining and maintaining health. The chart below, illustrates how various reflex points on the intestine can impact one’s health.
The various reflex points can influence the health and vitality of different organs in the body.
The above five pictures of prolapsed, distorted, twisted, sickly looking colons were taken from people who thought their colons where in good health.
Signs of poor colon health include:
A colonic can help you to shrink a pot belly and feel much lighter.
Cleanse, Stimulate and Repair Your Colon
Colon Hydrotherapy, also known as a “colonic”, “colon lavage”, “high enema”, or “colon irrigation”, is a safe and effective method of cleansing the large intestine of waste material by gentle repeated flushing with water.
Colon Hydrotherapy is able to eliminate more toxic waste than any other technique. Everyone can benefit from this simple, yet highly effective treatment which dates back thousands years.
Abdominal massage during the session enhances treatment.
How is it done?
Colon hydrotherapy is performed with disposable speculums, tubes, pads and bedding. The gravity fed water system uses a series of filters to purify the water used for this treatment. The temperature and volume of water released is controlled by the practitioner. This process of filling and releasing of water is repeated during the course of the hydrotherapy session. Approximately 30-40 liters of water is used to cleanse, rehydrate and stimulate the bowel during this time.
"Every tissue in the body is fed by the blood, which is supplied by the intestinal system. When the intestines are dirty, the blood is dirty, and so are the organs and tissues. It is the intestinal system that has to be cared for before any effective healing can take place.”

The History of Colon Hydrotherapy
Colon hydrotherapy, also known as a colonic, colon lavage, high enema, or colon irrigation, is an ancient method of treatment and healing. The use of enemas was recorded by the Egyptians as early as 1,500 BC although the Chinese used such methods long before then. Ayurvedic medicine includes colon cleansing as did Hippocrates in Greece and Galen in Rome. In these earlier times, hollow reeds were used to allow water to flow into the rectum for cleansing, and to help maintain health and prevent disease.
Colon hydrotherapy gained popularity in the 1920s to 1940s where it was used regularly by doctors in hospitals.
The basis of modern hydrotherapy was first discussed by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg in 1916 in the book ‘Colon Hygiene.’ In the 1930s Dr. Bernard Jensen administered thousands of colonics, and the testimonials he received stating the benefits of the treatment helped to popularize colon hydrotherapy at that time.
Many natural therapists believe that death begins in the colon. Being the major organ of elimination, the colon is susceptible to stagnation and the formation of decay and poisonous deposits.
It is essential to keep the colon free from putrefaction otherwise the products of decay spread beyond the colon to other organs causing autointoxication. For example, in the brain and nervous system it may cause irritability and depression; in the heart, weakness and low energy; in the lungs, shortness of breath and halitosis; in the digestive system, bloating and discomfort; in the blood, unhealthy skin. The general pace of toxaemia may lead to a variety of other health concerns.
In a report to the Royal Society of Medicine (1912), 36 poisonous substances were listed as causing, in the smallest quantities, the most profound effects. It would be reasonable to extrapolate from this that, given today’s use of additives, preservatives, insecticides, the range of chemicals in household cleaners, chemicals used in cosmetics, the situation has declined significantly rather than improved!
Many individuals experience varying degrees of diarrhea, constipation, flatulence and other digestive difficulties. As we have seen, the use of water to cleanse the colon has been practised for centuries. Colon hydrotherapy not only cleanses the colon, it may help to detoxify the whole body.
