Frequently Asked Questions

"Good health is not something we can buy. However, it can be an extremely valuable savings account."
- Anne Wilson Schaef
Have a question about what to expect, how we work, or whether we're the right fit? Here are answers to the questions we hear most often from patients in Etobicoke, Toronto and the surrounding area.

YOUR FIRST VISIT

The word “doctor” is an academic term that originates from the Latin word docēre meaning “to teach.” Naturopathic Doctors strive to teach and educate their patients about all aspects of their treatment plans, suggested prescriptions or treatment modalities.

Your first visit with Dr. Rodak is 60 minutes. With over 33 years of clinical experience serving patients in Etobicoke and across Toronto, he takes the time to do a thorough intake; walking through your complete health history, current and past conditions, a review of organ systems, and a general physical exam. From there he'll explain his findings, answer your questions, and put together a treatment plan tailored to you. Options may include clinical nutrition, acupuncture, homeopathy, botanical medicine, the Bowen technique, or colon hydrotherapy.
You'll be asked to put on a gown for a head-to-toe physical. Dr. Rodak may examine your ears, eyes, and throat, listen to your heart and lungs, take blood pressure, palpate your abdomen, test reflexes, assess your structure, and evaluate your tongue and pulses using Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. If you're coming in for something acute, a focused exam may be done to get you relief faster.
Yes. We offer free 15-minute consultations, a casual meet-and-greet in person or by phone to see if we're the right fit before booking a full visit. Just let us know when you call.

TREATMENTS & CONDITIONS

Over the past 33 years, Dr. Rodak has worked with men, women, and children experiencing a wide range of acute and chronic health concerns including hormonal imbalances, infertility, prostate issues, PMS, digestive complaints, and various visceral and structural conditions. Naturopathic medicine looks for the underlying factors contributing to your health concerns, rather than focusing solely on symptom management. The clinic also has other therapists and practitioners specializing in additional modalities.
Yes. In addition to being a Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Rodak holds a separate registration as an acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner with the CTCMPAO. Acupuncture may be provided as part of a naturopathic visit, or booked as a standalone service, please specify when booking. If your insurance plan covers acupuncture separately, it's worth reviewing your benefits as these are treated as two distinct files. Learn more about Acupuncture →
The Bowen Technique is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork that may support the body's natural ability to rebalance and heal. Using precise, rolling movements applied to specific points on muscles, tendons, and connective tissue, it aims to reduce tension, relieve pain, and improve overall function. It is a deeply relaxing therapy that some patients find helpful for musculoskeletal concerns, postural imbalances, and chronic pain. Sessions are suitable for all ages and may be used on its own or alongside other naturopathic treatments. Learn more about the Bowen Technique →
Colon hydrotherapy (colonics) is a gentle, controlled cleansing of the colon using temperature-regulated water. Sessions are about 30–40 minutes within a one-hour appointment. The room is fully private - only you and the practitioner - and we use disposable speculums, tubing, and pads for every session. You do not need to leave the room to use the bathroom. Please avoid eating or drinking for one hour before your appointment. Click here for more information about Colon Hydrotherapy →

OTHER COMMON INQUIRIES

Naturopathic approaches may support patients experiencing anxiety or chronic stress. Dr. Rodak may explore contributing factors such as nutritional deficiencies, adrenal function, or sleep patterns, and may use a combination of botanical medicine, acupuncture, and lifestyle guidance as part of a personalized care plan.
Hormonal concerns including thyroid function, adrenal health, and estrogen or progesterone imbalances are areas Dr. Rodak commonly works with. Testing such as hormone panels or hair analysis may be used to get a clearer picture before a care plan is developed.
Digestive complaints are a common reason patients seek naturopathic care. Dr. Rodak may use a combination of clinical nutrition, colon hydrotherapy, botanical medicine, and dietary guidance to explore and address the contributing factors behind ongoing digestive concerns.
Naturopathic medicine may be used as a supportive approach for patients navigating fertility concerns. Dr. Rodak has worked with both men and women in this area for over 33 years, and may incorporate hormone assessment, nutritional support, acupuncture, and detox protocols as part of an individualized plan.
Yes, Dr. Rodak sees patients of all ages, including children. Care plans for younger patients are adapted accordingly and may include gentler botanical remedies, nutritional guidance, and non-invasive therapies where appropriate.
Naturopathic doctors complete accredited medical training and are licensed practitioners in Ontario, but their approach differs from conventional medicine. Rather than focusing primarily on symptom management, naturopathic medicine looks at the underlying factors contributing to a health concern and draws on a range of natural therapies including nutrition, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and homeopathy. Naturopathic care is often used alongside, rather than in place of, conventional medical treatment.
